One of South Australia’s leading commercial cookery and hospitality training providers Adelaide Institute of Hospitality (AIOH) have joined forces with not-for-profit mental health first aid education provider Mental Health First Aid International (MHFA International) in a bid to provide hospitality students with essential mental health support.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Under the new collaboration AIOH will equip its students and clients with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide mental health information and support when it matters most.

According to AIOH General Manager Elizabeth Bell there has never been a more critical time to empower students with mental health knowledge and skills.

“It’s absolutely vital that we reduce stigma and increase support for the community” Ms Bell said.

By empowering students with the skills to recognise and respond to mental health problems, AIOH is creating the foundation for a healthier, more compassionate workforce.

As part of Australia’s future workforce, these students will not only be able to play a part in supporting the wellbeing of their peers but will also be able to carry these skills into their careers for the benefit of all work environments.

Training is open to all industries and individuals, with the additional focus on upskilling young people who have the highest prevalence of mental health disorders.

Training will be facilitated by Nate - MHFA Licensed Instructor and Front of House Hospitality Trainer
