The SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality is a nationally recognized qualification designed for individuals aiming to develop practical skills and knowledge in the hospitality industry. This course prepares students for various roles in establishments such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
Course Overview:
The qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales, or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgment, they work with some independence and under limited supervision, guided by plans, policies, and procedures.
Duration and Delivery:
A traineeship is a structured training program that combines paid work with formal training. It’s designed to help people gain practical experience and a nationally recognized qualification at the same time.
Here’s how it works:
On-the-job training:
- You work for an employer in a real job.
- You learn hands-on skills while doing your day-to-day tasks.
Off-the-job training:
- You study with a Registered Training Organisation, us the Adelaide Institute of Hospitality
- This is where you learn the theory and technical side of the job (training is provided on and off the job in conjunction with employer training and support)
The course duration is typically 18 months.

The course comprises of 6 core units:
- SITHIND006: Source and use information on the hospitality industry
- SITXWHS005: Participate in safe work practices
- SITXCCS014: Provide service to customers
- SITXCOM007: Show social and cultural sensitivity
- SITXHRM007: Coach others in job skills
- SITHIND008: Work effectively in hospitality service
And 9 electives units which are selected based on the students age, experience, job responsibilities, interest and employer needs.
