Basic Skills for Food Industry

This course will provide participants with basic skills in food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items.

It may also provide a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops; and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons, and schools.

Learn skills and knowledge in hygiene, basic cookery and kitchen organisation. You will develop your abilities in time management, multi-tasking and communication in a fast-paced environment as well as developing an understanding in the importance of hygiene awareness.

You might be eligible for subsidised training if you live or work in South Australia, and are:

  1. an Australian or New Zealand citizen
  2. a permanent Australian resident or
  3. an eligible visa holder.
  4. 16 years or over and not enrolled at school

Funded gap fee: $68.50 per student

Fee for service if funding does not apply: $1,277.65 per student

Hands on course, prepare and enjoy a variety of dishes over ten (10) training sessions.
